St. Patrick's Day Fun

We are always looking for a reason to celebrate here at Raine Inc.   This is a tree that sits in our warehouse.  It is decorated in a different theme throughout the year by Diane who is our production assistant/warehouse supervisor.  No matter what the theme may be - the pumpkin head always remains on top though.  Crazy – we know but sometimes you just need a little crazy to make the day more interesting.

By the way,  did you know that Raine Inc. now sells Marine Certified Martial Arts belts?  It is available in Camo Green to go with your “Kiss Me – I’m Irish” t-shirt that you may have hanging in your closet.

Today Just Might Be the Perfect Day!

(siraphat)
When : Always on March 16th

Today is:  "Everything You Do is Right" Day. Life is filled with adventure of ups and downs. Some days are good days. Some days are bad days. Most often, there's both good and bad in any given day.  Every once in a while, a day comes along where everything you do goes well.....the perfect day!

Today is actually the opposite of yesterday which was:  "Everything You Think is Wrong Day" on March 15th. Yes, there is more than understated differences in interpretation and meaning of the two days. But, you get the idea.  Make it a great day for you!

Please note, there is no actual research that found the creator or origin of this day. It was just too good not to share it!

Get Ready to Change Those Clocks!

This Sunday, March 11, we switch from standard to daylight saving time. Daylight saving time (“DST”) is also called summer time or daylight savings time. When DST is not put into place, it is called standard time, normal time or winter time.

Stuart Miles
Clocks get set an hour ahead, meaning a loss of time but more evening hours of daylight.  It may be only an hour, but shifts in sleep schedules can throw off those of us who are already sleep-deprived. That includes many Americans, one-third of who don’t get the 7 to 9 hours of sleep recommended by the National Sleep Foundation, according to recent government data. Chronic lack of sleep is associated with health risks like weight gain, depression and even early death.  Likewise, even in the short term, sleep loss can be a hazard: a 2001 study found that traffic accidents bump up slightly on the Monday following the spring shift to Daylight Saving Time.

Dr. Gina Chen, sleep specialist with The Polyclinic’s Sleep Medicine Center located in Seattle, Washington, recommends you should respect your sleep time and continue to get your usual amount of sleep.  She advises:
  • Reset all of your clocks on the Saturday evening before the switch.
  • Once clocks have been set, go to bed an hour later than usual on Saturday.  In other words, if you usually go to bed at 10 p.m., your clock will say 11 p.m.
  • Get up on Sunday, the first day of daylight saving time, at your usual time (according to your clock).
  • Resist the temptation to take a nap in the middle of the day on Sunday.
  • Go to bed on Sunday at your usual time (according to your clock).
Good luck and be aware of the correct time on Sunday!

UNLV. UNLV Runnin' Rebels beat Duke by 30 points (103-73) in 1990 for their first NCAA title.

What team won the NCAA title in their first Final Four appearance in 1999?

Connecticut.  Surprisingly, UConn never made it to the Final Four until 1999, when they defeated Duke for the title.

Who holds the record for most points scored in one tournament in the 20th Century?

Glen Rice. In 1989 Glen Rice scored 184 points in 6 games, including 27 three pointers. He ironically only made 7 free throws in the tournament, the fewest tournament points leader since the tournament was expanded to 64 teams.
